Bits & Pieces (9/26/12)

The Brain is More Like A Muscle Than a Shoebox – Why should kids learn Latin? Here’s at least one reason.

Jesus is the King of Kings – “The lordship of Jesus is not simply a hope of Christians that someday might be realized; it is a truth that has already taken place. It is the task of the church to bear witness to that invisible kingdom, or as Calvin put it, it is the task of the church to make the invisible kingdom of Christ visible. Though invisible, it is nevertheless real.”

You Can’t Catch Sin Like a Cold – “We don’t “catch” sin. It’s in us from birth. We are sin carriers. It’s only by the grace of God that we can become immune to the virus that lives in us, that we can live a life without its symptoms oozing and coughing and exhaling out of us onto others, not to infect them but to influence them.” (H/T)

Chick-fil-A Update – I found this to be a helpful summary of the current media storm regarding Chik-fil-A. The author also helps explain why it matters.

Divorce & Christians – “‘Christians divorce at roughly the same rate as the world!’ It’s one of the most quoted stats by Christian leaders today. And it’s perhaps one of the most inaccurate.”

God Answers – A beautiful poem by John Piper.
